Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma and relevant supervisory experience.
• Degree may substitute for supervisory experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, directs and manages employment and duty activities of a security shift at a level three facility.
• Supervises, inspects and enforces perimeter and internal security measures.
• Prepares, submits and monitors reports per chain of command.
• Directs and redirects security resources for optimum safety.
• Ensures institutional buildings and state property are secured.
• Trains and counsels subordinates to meet policies and laws.
• Controls weapons, keys, and agency equipment usage.
• Inspects all posts where shift employees are deployed.
• Interviews and counsels inmates to ensure maximum safety.
• Shift/schedule subject to change.
