Job summary

UTMB Health, Correctional Managed Care, seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients in a prison/jail setting. You will perform nursing procedures within your scope and follow the plan of care, documenting care and coordinating with the health team.

Requirements: High School diploma, LVN program graduation, Texas LVN license with BLS-HP. No experience is required.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent.
• Graduation from LVN program and Texas LVN license.
• Current BLS-HP certification.
• No experience is required; recent graduates welcome.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
• Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures.
• Review and modify the plan of care under supervision.
• Observe and record patient signs, symptoms, and status.
• Deliver nursing interventions per the physician's plan.
• Notify staff of changes in patient status.
• Follow physician orders and maintain privacy.
• Administer medications and treatments.
• Assemble equipment for procedures and assist others.
• Adhere to infection control and aseptic techniques.
• Document nursing care in patient records.
