Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide direct nursing care within a correctional setting. The role requires LVN licensure in Texas, current BLS-HP, and readiness to perform admissions, discharges, and routine nursing duties under physician orders.

Will assess and modify care plans, document meticulously, and collaborate with physicians and other health team members. The position is on-site within a secure facility in Texas.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from an LVN program and current Texas LVN license/permit are required.
• Current BLS-HP certification is required.
• Recent graduates with temporary permits may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients in a correctional setting.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
• Perform admissions, discharges, and transfers as appropriate.
• Review and modify the nursing care plan under supervision.
• Document care accurately in patient records.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Follow infection control and aseptic techniques.
• Notify staff of changes in patient status and coordinate with the team.
