Job summary

UTMB Health's Correctional Managed Care division in Texas seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide direct nursing care within a correctional setting. You will follow the physician’s orders, manage medication administration, and work with a multidisciplinary team in a secure environment.

Applicants must have a Texas LVN license, BLS-HP, and be prepared to work within a jail or prison facility; recent graduates with temporary permits are considered.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current Texas LVN license/permit.
• No experience required.
• Current BLS-HP required.
• Recent graduates with temporary permits will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care.
• Performs admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Reviews and, under supervision, modifies the care plan.
• Documents nursing care in patient records.
• Follows physician's orders and medical plan of care.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Administers medications and treatments.
• Assembles equipment for procedures and assists with treatments.
