Job summary

Dept of Corrections – Caroline Correctional Unit 02 is seeking a Corrections Lieutenant to oversee daily operations of security staff and inmates in a high‑security setting. You will supervise shifts, lead staff, and coordinate rosters to maintain a safe and orderly environment.

The role requires a DCJS certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, and experience in corrections leadership. Strong knowledge of security practices and the ability to follow written and oral instructions are

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
DCJS Certification is required.
Experience supervising corrections staff is required.
Experience planning, scheduling, and duty rosters is needed.
Knowledge of security procedures is required.
Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
Familiarity with firearms, radio equipment, and control devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates in an institutional setting.
Supervise and monitor staff on assigned shift to ensure safety, security, and productivity.
Lead and counsel staff; coordinate work schedules and duty rosters as needed.
Contribute to performance management and conduct inspections to maintain security and order.
