Job summary

Osceola County Government seeks an experienced corrections professional to oversee the training, review, and evaluation of sergeants, corporals, and corrections officers to ensure policy compliance and safe facility operations.

The role involves managing offender custody with high accountability, coordinating emergency responses, and maintaining critical records. A Florida corrections certification is required, with leadership responsibilities across shifts and inmate supervision.

Qualifications

• Requires Florida Correctional Officer Certification and Florida State Corrections Certification.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications; valid Florida Driver's License.
• Seven years in certified corrections with four as a supervisor and two as a sergeant.
• Criminal justice command academy training or eligibility to enroll within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train and evaluate Corrections Staff; conduct shift briefings and enforce policies.
• Assist in planning corrections goals; coordinate activities toward objectives.
• Manage care, custody and control of inmates; respond to escalated incidents; observe and supervise activities.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards; safeguard staff and facilities.
• Lead rounds and inspections; manage inmate classification, count, and safety; supervise visitor screening.
• Attend Defensive Tactics and Firearm training; monitor trends in probation issues and safety.
• Maintain legal records and incident reports; review fights and use of force packets for chain of command.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
