Job summary

Osceola County Government seeks a Correctional Training Lieutenant to lead the Training and Support divisions, oversee certification programs, and ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations within the corrections department.

You will supervise a team including Training Sergeant and Correctional Officers, develop annual training plans, manage lesson updates in the training database, and coordinate in-service and new-employee instruction.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in a Certified Corrections position.
• Four (4) years as a Certified Corrections Supervisor and two years as a Certified Corrections Sergeant.
• Must obtain Certified Jail Manager Certification within twelve (12) months.
• Must possess Florida State Corrections Certification.
• Must possess CPR and First Aid Certifications.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
• Must not have any discipline above a Written Reprimand in the last twelve (12) months).
• Must possess General Instructors Certifications and High Liability Instructor Certifications (e.g., Firearms, Defensive Tactics, First Aid).

Responsibilities

• Supervises, trains, and evaluates Corrections Staff according to procedures and regulations.
• Plans, coordinates, and implements training and professional development.
• Manages care, custody, and control of detainees with safety and compliance.
• Maintains training programs and annual master plans; oversees lesson plans and calendars.
• Reviews incident reports and ensures proper documentation and filing.
• Ensures training staff stay current with accreditation standards and policy changes.
• Responds to escalating situations with professional judgment and discretion.
• Collaborates with department leadership to achieve training goals.
