Job summary

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking an energetic Industry Lead Worker for the Danville Correctional Center's Industries Unit. You will train, supervise and guide in-custody workers, and manage daily production operations and records, ensuring quality control and safety standards are met.

Role requires hands-on management, maintenance of equipment, and adherence to safety policies in a fully in-office setting with union protections and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Requires four years of high school completion.
  • Requires three years of specialized industrial experience related to the position.
  • Prefers at least two years in woodworking and related equipment.
  • Prefers experience keeping workflow in a group setting.
  • Prefers inventory management experience.
  • Prefers management of tools in a correctional setting.
  • Prefers preventative maintenance experience.
  • Prefers production scheduling experience.
  • Prefers shipping and receiving procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Trains, assigns and instructs individual in custody workers in the daily operation of Industries program at Danville Correctional Industries Unit.
  • Maintains operating records of production.
  • Receives and inspects finished products for quality control prior to packaging and shipping of finished goods.
  • Maintains proper preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Maintains all Department and institutional safety, security, and sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
