Job summary

The Department of Correction (DOC) in Connecticut seeks a Correctional Industries Supervisor 2 (General Industries) to manage the Cheshire Correctional Institution’s Industry Shops, including License Plate, Plastic Bag, and Sign Shops. Qualifications

• Six (6) years of experience in a manufacturing environment involved in production, production planning and/or quality control which must have included responsibility for the production output of other workers.
• Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work of staff.
• Provides staff assistance.
• Determines priorities and plans unit work.
• Establishes and maintains unit procedures.
• Develops or makes recommendations on development of policies and standards.
• Acts as liaison with other operating units and agencies.
• Supervises operation and staff for unit indicated by parenthetical title of class.
• Plans and coordinates production and scheduling.
• Consults with department head and subordinates in development of specifications and requisitioning of supplies, materials, machinery and equipment.
• Supervises operation, maintenance and security of all machinery and equipment.
• Maintains production and inventory records and prepares reports.
• Prepares cost and budget estimates.
• Directs training of subordinates and inmates.
• Reviews and evaluates work of subordinates and inmates assigned, preparing progress and performance reports.
