Job summary

The State of South Dakota's Department of Corrections - Pheasantland Industries in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a Garment/Upholstery Shop Foreman to oversee production, scheduling, and workforce development within a correctional facility.

Responsibilities include supervising incarcerated workers, ensuring quality, safety, inventory control, and coordinating with sales, vendors, and customers. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week role offers hourly pay of $23.00–$28.00 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of business operations, budgeting, and profitability.
• Experience managing day-to-day operations, staffing, and workflow.
• Understanding of inventory control and cost management.
• Experience supervising staff and coaching workers.
• Knowledge of quality control principles and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision to incarcerated workers to meet production goals.
• Interview, assign, evaluate, and terminate workers as needed.
• Train workers in sewing, upholstery, embroidery, and related skills.
• Coordinate workflow between garment and upholstery production lines.
• Develop production schedules to meet deadlines and optimize efficiency.
• Communicate with customers on specs, timelines, and order status.
• Ensure safety and enforce department policies and procedures.
• Maintain inventory records and manage materials and equipment.
