Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Four (4) years of professional employment experience in food preparation, handling, or cooking.
• Substitutions: up to two years of related experience may be combined with correctional or hospitality work to reach four years; or substitutions with coursework may apply.
• Ability to supervise inmates and ensure safe, secure, and sanitary kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate workers and schedule shifts in a correctional kitchen.
• Ensure safety, security, sanitation, and compliance with regulations during meal service.
• Monitor inventory, orders, and waste to maintain budget and efficiency.
• Train inmates in baking, cooking techniques, sanitation, and use of kitchen tools.
