Job summary

Colorado Department of Corrections is seeking a Corrections Food Service Supervisor to oversee meal production for inmate populations, ranging from 600 to 7500 meals daily. The role ensures safety, sanitation, diet accommodations, and efficient operations, while supervising inmate work crews and managing inventory and expenses.

The supervisor trains staff, maintains records, and supports community re-entry by demonstrating integrity and adherence to mission and values in a correctional facility

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• 4 years of professional food preparation, handling or cooking experience.
• Combination options: 2 years food prep + 2 years correctional experience.
• Alternative: 2 years food prep + 2 years hospitality industry experience.
• Hospitality defined as food & beverage, lodging, travel/tourism.
• Employment history is evaluated on a full-time basis (40 hours/week). Pro-rating for part-time.
• Coursework related to culinary arts or hospitality may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe, secure, and efficient food service for inmate meals.
• Train and supervise inmate workers in baking, cooking, sanitation and equipment use.
• Monitor inventory, usage, expenses, waste, and enforce budget controls.
• Ensure sanitation and compliance with regulations and standards.
• Promote community re-entry by upholding mission, vision and integrity.
