Job summary

County of Tulare seeks a Corrections Deputy to enforce jail safety and supervise inmates in a multi-level detention facility. The role includes reception, detention, release processes, and maintaining security around the clock.

Responsibilities cover incident reporting, learning applicable laws, supervising groups, transporting inmates, and assisting with courtroom procedures as needed. Training and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of supervising groups and maintaining order in a detention setting.
• Ability to recognize emergency, dangerous, and unusual situations and respond appropriately.
• Ability to prepare reports and document activities and incidents.

Responsibilities

• Process reception, detention and release of adult inmates.
• Maintain 24-hour security and order within the facility.
• Write reports of activities and incidents and prepare case materials.
• Learn Penal Code, Health and Safety Code, and department policies.
• Supervise inmates during work details and leisure activities.
