Job summary

Teller County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Detention Deputy to ensure the care and security of inmates within the detention facility and support daily operations of the jail. You will supervise inmate movement, document daily activities, and assist in transporting prisoners between facilities.

Responsibilities include courthouse security, supervising visits, and testifying in court when required. A valid Colorado POST-certified candidate is preferred but not required, with ongoing opportunities

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and some public contact experience.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn state and county statutes and ordinances.
• First aid and medical procedures knowledge helpful.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain order in the detention facility to ensure inmate safety and welfare.
• Schedule inmate visitations and work crews; manage inmate meals.
• Testify in court and prepare reports on daily activity and incidents.
• Provide security in courthouse and courtrooms; transport inmates as needed.
• Attend trainings and may serve as field training officer for new hires.
• Perform duties of patrol deputy when required.
