Job summary

Douglas County Sheriff's Office - Corrections Division seeks full-time Corrections Deputies to maintain inmate security, handle bookings, and conduct court transports from the Roseburg courthouse complex. The role requires strong communication, integrity, and the ability to perform in a demanding, rotating 12-hour schedule including nights and weekends.

Applicants must meet Oregon DPSST standards, pass extensive background checks, and succeed in physical, medical, and drug screening assessments.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age by certification.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to become one within 12 months of hire.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Able to pass extensive background investigation.
• Must pass post-offer physical and psychological evaluations.
• Must pass post-offer drug test.
• Willing to be fingerprinted as required.
• Meets DPSST and Oregon standards for law enforcement employment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security of inmates and escort to court.
• Book, search, fingerprint and photograph incoming prisoners.
• Maintain logs and records; interpret court orders.
• Use firearms and non-lethal weapons as required; operate two-way radio.
• Perform hourly visual security checks and respond to inquiries.
• Attend to inmates and communicate policy and procedures effectively.
• Work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights and weekends.
