Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 3 years of experience in correctional, security, military or police work, including 1 year of supervisory experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for supervisory experience year-for-year.
• Within 1 year of entry, must be certified by the SC Department of Corrections Training Center, complete basic supervisory courses, obtain CDL, and complete all required T4T courses.
• A bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of teaching/training experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify, coordinate, and instruct NEO, orientation, basic and in-service classes for staff at the SCDC training academy and designated locations.
• Research, develop, and update lesson plans, training aids, manuals, tests, and evaluation instruments to meet policy, ACA standards and law.
• Maintain an accurate filing system for training records.
• Ensure records are maintained to meet ACA, CLEE requirements and any consent decrees.
• Maintain proficiency with computer technology, software, and media equipment.
