Job summary

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Sergeant I (S) at Gaston Correctional Center in Dallas, NC. The role involves supervising a shift of officers responsible for male offenders in a minimum custody facility, ensuring safety and policy compliance.

Reporting to the Associate Warden, you will manage post assignments, review reports, maintain custody documents and participate in facility inspections.

Qualifications

• Documented knowledge of facility operations.
• Documented knowledge of Prisons' policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a shift of employees, conduct shift line-up and schedules.
• Complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, custody reports and evaluations.
• Review logs, reports and documentation from shift rotations.
• Account for persons and funds to ensure equipment is operational.
• Handle activities related to custody and welfare of offenders.
• Conduct inspections of offender living areas, medical and kitchen areas, and the facility for safety hazards and policy adherence.
• Work rotating and various duty assignments within the defined level of work.
