Job summary

Ultipro is seeking an on-site full-time kitchen worker to oversee inmate labor, manage daily kitchen tasks, and ensure safe, sanitary meal preparation in a correctional facility. The role includes inventory, ordering, and supervision responsibilities to maintain efficient food service operations.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, and experience in food service supervision is preferred. Strong communication, organization, and MS Office skills are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or GED.
• Experience in correctional, commercial, or institutional food preparation or food service management preferred.
• Experience in supervision of employees or offenders preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversees inmate/detainee worker program; creates orientation forms; trains and orients in duties including sanitation and hand washing procedures; assigns daily kitchen tasks; supervises inmates to ensure tasks are done timely; delivers verbal direction and warnings when needed.
• Prepares, assists, or instructs inmate labor in the preparation of a variety of food items in accordance with departmental work production standards, recipes, and work instructions.
• Follows facility housekeeping and safety practices in all preparation, oversight, and serving of meals.
• Checks deliveries ensuring proper items delivered timely and that food is at correct temperatures; stocks incoming food and supplies; stocks frozen and perishable items; stocks other foods and supplies within an hour of delivery.
• Compiles weekly kitchen inventory; records and maintains information in the inventory system; maintains current physical inventory of all food and supplies; orders groceries and kitchen supplies; adjusts menu if needed due to increased food costs.
