Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Forensic Mental Health Clinician for Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey. The clinician will perform specialized psychological testing and assess adult inmates’ clinical needs, reporting to the Clinician Supervisor.

Key duties include diagnosing with DSM-based evaluations, providing crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, and coordinating treatment with community agencies while maintaining inmate records.

Formación

• Ph.D./Psy.D./Ed.D. in Psychology with training in psychological testing and minimum of two (2) years’ experience in behavioral health care or related setting.
• Must be licensed in New Jersey as a practicing Psychologist or hold an unrestricted permit to practice psychology in NJ.
• Must have a valid driver's license and own vehicle to travel between sites.

Responsabilidades

• Arrive at DSM IV diagnoses with precision and accuracy through psychological testing and evaluation sessions.
• Provide crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy and psycho-education as clinically indicated.
• Manage caseload effectively considering quality of care and security needs.
• Assume overall case management for assigned inmates, including treatment coordination and liaison with community agencies; maintain records.
• Demonstrate competency in psychological testing and understand the needs of adult inmates and seniors.
