Job summary

Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) seeks a Forensic Mental Health Clinician for Southwoods State Prison in Bridgeton, NJ. The role performs specialized psychological testing and assessment for adult inmates and reports to the Clinician Supervisor.

You will provide crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, and psychosocial treatment planning; coordinate with community agencies; and maintain inmate records. Requires a Ph.D./Psy.D./Ed.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. in Psychology with relevant experience including testing.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a behavioral health care or related setting.
• Licensed or eligible to practice psychology in New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Completes specialized psychological testing and assessment for adult inmates.
• Provides crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, and psycho-education.
• Develops psychosocial treatment plans with inmates and staff.
• Advocates for appropriate resources based on assessed needs.
• Manages caseload while balancing care and security needs.
• Coordinates treatment and liaises with community agencies; maintains inmate records.
• Demonstrates competency in psychological testing and understanding of inmate needs.
