Job summary

Rutgers University is seeking a Forensic Mental Health Clinician within UCHC NJSP. The role involves clinical testing, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and psychosocial treatment planning for adult inmates in a correctional setting.

Requirements include a doctoral degree in psychology (Ph.D./Psy.D./Ed.D.), state licensure in New Jersey, and the ability to travel between sites. This is an onsite full-time position in Trenton, NJ with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. in Psychology with relevant experience including training in psychological testing and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a behavioral health care or related setting.
• Must be licensed in New Jersey as a practicing Psychologist or hold an unrestricted permit to practice psychology in New Jersey; valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Complete specialized psychological testing and assessment of clinical needs for adult inmates.
• Provide crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy and psycho-education programming as clinically indicated.
• Collaborate with inmates and Department of Corrections staff to develop achievable psychosocial treatment plans.
• Advocate for appropriate resources based on assessed needs.
• Manage caseloads with attention to quality of care and security requirements.
• Assume case management responsibilities, including coordination of treatment and liaison with community agencies; maintain inmate records.
• Demonstrate competency in psychological testing and understand the needs of adult inmates and seniors.
