Job summary

Firsthand is seeking Peer Recovery Specialists, also known as Core Guides, to support individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI) in Detroit, Michigan. The Core Guide will conduct community outreach, assist with health needs, and build trust while advocating for recovery goals.

Applicants should have lived experience with SMI or substance use disorders, a valid state driver's license, and basic technology proficiency. This role offers $20/hour and a supportive environment that values personal experiences.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with SMI and/or SUD.
• Demonstrated proficiency with technical tools like email, messaging services, and apps.
• Ability to work Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Responsibilities

• Conduct community outreach to individuals with SMI.
• Support individuals' health needs by scheduling appointments and assisting with telehealth access.
• Act as the primary point-of-contact and facilitate ongoing engagement.
