Job summary

Firsthand Health in Detroit is looking for a dedicated Core Guide (Peer Recovery Specialist) to support individuals living with serious mental illnesses. The Core Guide will conduct community outreach and assist clients with appointment scheduling, relationship building, and navigating health challenges.

Successful candidates should possess lived experience with mental health or substance use disorders, and be comfortable with interpersonal communication. This full-time role offers a starting pay of $20 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health coverage and vacation days.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with SMI and/or SUD.
• Two (2) years demonstrated recovery time from a mental health and/or substance abuse disorder at the date of application.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct community outreach to individuals with SMI.
• Support individuals' health needs by scheduling appointments.
• Build trust and relationships with individuals.
