Job summary

Tarrant County College seeks a Coordinator of TRIO, Upward Bound to lead program activities for a college-prep grant at South Campus. You will coordinate services, track student progress, and support enrollment in postsecondary programs.

The role reports to the Director of TRIO programs, requires collaboration with multiple campus units, strong organizational skills, and grant-management experience. This is a grant-funded position.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, with lateevening and weekend hours as needed. During the academic programsession (mid-September through mid-May), the schedule shifts toMonday - Thursday, 9:00am - 6:00pm. Based on the program needs,overnight travel may occur.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of TRIO programs, the Coordinator ofTRIO, Upward Bound is responsible for coordinating all activitiesand services related to a specific Upward Bound grant program. Thisposition provides educational and college preparatory services toassist high school students with completing their secondaryeducation and enrollment into a post-secondary institution.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*

• Conducts academic needs assessments and develops studenteducational plans
• Coordinates special events, including college tours, field trips,educational and social issues workshops, and out-of-statetrips
• Develops program and event publication
• Tracks academic progress of program participants
• Tracks program graduates as they progress through post-secondaryeducation
• Engages in program recruitment
• Maintains accurate records for grant compliance
• Organizes annual, monthly, and weekly performance reports
• Hires, trains, and oversees on-call staff assisting in grantprogram delivery

Service Excellence

• Participates on behalf of the College in external communityorganizations and associations as assigned to support the EssentialPerformance Requirements*
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite
• Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the mission, values, and goals and principles of theCollege

Supervision

• Works under the general supervision of the Director of TRIOPrograms

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Three (3) years of experience working with students from variousbackgrounds specifically low-income or first-generation
• One (1) year’s working experience in program coordination andmanagement

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in education, counseling, higher education,student affairs, social work, public administration, or a closelyrelated field
• At least one (1) year’s working experience with TRIO UpwardBound, Talent Search, or a comparable federally fundedpre-collegiate program
• At least one (1) year’s working experience advisingcollege-readiness, or postsecondary transition services tolow-income and/or first-generation college students
• At least one (1) year’s working experience coordinatingpre-collegiate programming for high school students, includingacademic-year services, summer programming, workshops, collegevisits, educational field trips, and overnight or out-of-statestudent travel

• Knowledge of student characteristics and campus/collegeprograms
• Skilled in communication and team building across all areas ofthe college
• Ability to prepare/present programs to groups from variousbackgrounds
