Nashville Rescue Mission is seeking a temporary Cook for the Women's Operations team. The Cook will organize, manage, and coordinate all food service functions during their shift, ensuring food quality, safety, and adherence to health regulations. The role supports the mission and requires following the meal schedule and health standards.

The position involves supervising during the 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. shift with bi-weekly weekend rotation, and working with staff, participants, and volunteers

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED equivalent; one year of food service experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills are essential.
• Proficient interpersonal and communicationskills.
• Must be a team player and have positive and optimistic attitude.
• Moderate reading and writing skills.

Mansioni

• Follow the written meal schedule as set by the Food Service Manager.
• Communicate with Food Service Manager regarding surplus foods and meal planning issues.
• Receive, store, and manage supplies; keep storage areas sanitary and organized per health guidelines.
• Instruct staff, participants, and volunteers in health standards and cooking methods.
• Oversee preparation and daily use of perishable foods.
• Consider needs of children and expectant mothers in daily prep.
• Organize each day’s food needs and coordinate with storage areas.
• Keep the Food Service Manager informed of kitchen problems and needs.
• Oversee sanitation of dining area before and after meals.
• Maintain knowledge of current health department regulations.
• Maintain good relationships with participants, staff, volunteers.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
