Job description

Responsibilities

We are hiring a per diem Cook for Dietary and Food Services with flexibility to cover AM and PM shifts as needed at Fremont Hospital. The Cook supports hospital operations and is responsible for preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, and dinner for patients and facility staff according to the approved diet manual and production sheets. Responsibilities include general oversight to ensure safe and timely execution of meals, management of on‑unit snacks, maintaining par levels, and ensuring compliance with safe food handling and kitchen safety protocols.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in quantity cooking or basic knowledge of modified diets.
• Training in food service, safe food handling, and sanitation.
• Experience utilizing industrial kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Some prior kitchen supervisory experience helpful.
• May be required to obtain ServSafe certification.
• May be required to complete Fremont Hospital’s non‑violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting with preventative intervention measures.
• May be required to work overtime and flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to stand up to 8 hours at a time.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
