Job summary

Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks, NV is seeking a Cook to prepare patient, staff, and visitor meals in a hospital setting. The role operates under supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead, following established recipes and presentation standards.

The position supports patient care through timely meal preparation, coordination with dietary plans, and adherence to sanitation and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• One to three years related experience or training, or equivalent education.
• High school graduation or equivalent.
• ServSafe certification preferred within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Determines types and quantities of foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and tallies.
• Monitors low supplies and communicates needs to Director/Supervisor; assists in proper food storage after delivery.
• Ensures meals are prepared on time and consults with supervisor regarding leftovers.
• Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and presentation standards.

This Cook opportunity is either Full Time, Part Time or even per diem.

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead, the cook performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties. The cook will prepare appropriate food items for hospital patients, staff, and visitors according to recipes.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
• Determines foods/supplies/equipment that are low in supply and uses list to communicate to Director/Supervisor. Also assists in putting foods/supplies away appropriately in designated storage area after delivery.
• Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director/supervisor regarding use of leftover food.
• Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards while using garnishes when appropriate.
