Job summary

Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks, NV seeks a Cook to support patient, staff and visitor dining. You will prepare meals per approved recipes, manage dish duties, and ensure timely service in a hospital kitchen setting.

Responsibilities include planning quantities, tracking low supplies, and coordinating with a supervisor to handle leftovers. High school grad and 1–3 years of related experience preferred; ServSafe is a plus within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent education/experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• ServSafe Certification preferred within 6 months of hire.

This Cook opportunity is either Full Time, Part Time or even per diem.

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead, the cook performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties. The cook will prepare appropriate food items for hospital patients, staff, and visitors according to recipes.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
• Determines foods/supplies/equipment that are low in supply and uses list to communicate to Director/Supervisor. Also assists in putting foods/supplies away appropriately in designated storage area after delivery.
• Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director/supervisor regarding use of leftover food.
• Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards while using garnishes when appropriate.
