Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time cook at Sierra Medical Center in Reno to support hospital-wide food service. You will prepare patient, staff, and visitor meals according to recipes and schedules.

Under supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, you will help manage food production, ensure timely service, and maintain safety and quality standards in a busy hospital kitchen.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and tallies.
• Monitors low supplies and communicates to Director/Supervisor; stores items properly after delivery.
• Ensures meals are ready at specified times and advises on leftovers with supervisor.
• Prepares foods according to approved recipes and appearance standards.

This Cook opportunity is full time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient schedule. Under the direct supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead, the cook performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties. Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
• Determines foods/supplies/equipment that are low in supply and uses list to communicate to Director/Supervisor. Also assists in putting foods/supplies away appropriately in designated storage area after delivery.
• Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director/supervisor regarding use of leftover food.
• Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards while using garnishes when appropriate
