Job summary

Areas USA, Inc. is seeking a Cook II to accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot foods.

You will prepare and portion foods, garnish plates, and maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment in a fast-paced setting in Newark, New Jersey. The position requires at least 1 year of kitchen prep experience, strong teamwork, and the ability to read kitchen tickets and follow recipes and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
• Verbal and written communication is essential, able to read, speak and understand English to read kitchen tickets, recipes, safety and OSHA compliance and training, etc.
• Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
• Good teamwork approach to daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and other kitchen equipment.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, ranges and refrigeration equipment.
• Records temperature of food items, equipment and storage products on logs.
• Assists in closing the kitchen and following closing checklists.
• Attends scheduled meetings and assists with inventory and receiving as needed.
