Job summary

Sodexo at University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Cook I to prepare, portion, cook, and present hot and cold dishes for meals and events. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, following Sodexo’s standards for quality, safety, and sanitation, while maintaining a clean workstation.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 0–2 years’ experience, and the ability to read and follow recipes unsupervised.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food following current standards to ensure high-quality service.
• Follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving items.
• Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production and requisition supplies.
• Significant walking or other mobility; stand for extended periods.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
