Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Cook I to join our team at the Marquette University Annex. You will prepare and plate a variety of hot and cold dishes for all meal periods, maintaining high standards of quality and food safety in a fast-paced kitchen.

The role emphasizes accurate portioning, safe handling, teamwork, and flexibility with shifts (afternoon/evenings). Prior cooking experience is preferred, and training is provided. This is a full-time on-site position at the university.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards to ensure high-quality service.
• Follow basic recipes for preparing, cooking, and serving a variety of items.
• Estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to plan production.
• Significant walking or other mobility.
• Ability to stand for extended periods up to 8+ hours.
• Lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
