Job summary

The New Hampshire Veterans Home has a full-time, 1st shift vacancy for a Cook I in Tilton, NH. The schedule includes 5:30am - 2:00pm shifts with varying weekends and an additional $2.00/hour.

Position involves assisting in preparation and cooking of foods following state and federal guidelines, with health/hygiene requirements and potential for in-band advancement under NH State guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: 8th grade education.
• Must wear a hairnet and adhere to all hygiene-related standards for the food industry.
• Ability to work while standing and under high temperature and humidity.

Responsibilities

• Assists in training Food Service Workers.
• Plans daily task assignments for food service workers.
• Works with Food Service Director in planning new food delivery programs.
• Sanitizes and cleans work surface areas after each task.
• Assists in food preparation according to amounts needed; follows approved recipes and menus.
• Cleans kitchen and cooking utensils; inspects cooking equipment for cleanliness and proper functional operation.
