Job summary

Coast Guard Exchange in Kodiak, AK is seeking a Cook 08 to prepare a wide range of meals, manage kitchen operations, and ensure food safety and quality. The role requires cooking from standardized recipes, coordinating timing for multiple dishes, and maintaining inventory and sanitation.

The position offers a $23.44/hour pay and a $1,000 hiring bonus with incentives at 3 and 6 months of service; full benefits apply under Coast Guard Community Services Command policies.

Qualifications

• Experience with a full range of food preparation principles, including developing recipes and cooking large quantities.
• Experience operating and cleaning of food service equipment used in large quantity production; ability to supervise lower graded staff.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods; ability to obtain a Food Handler Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepares meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, fruits, sauces and gravies for menus and prepares food for all meals following recipes.
• Cooks, seasons, portions food, plans procedures so multiple dishes are ready together and presents food visually.
• Maintains sanitation, inventory, and safety; coordinates with others and cleans/kos work areas and equipment.
