Job summary

USCG Community Services Command in Kodiak, AK, is hiring a Cook 08 for a full-time schedule (30-40 hrs/wk). The position prepares a wide range of menu items, coordinates cooks, and ensures quality and sanitation across shifts.

Qualified candidates will have experience with large-quantity food preparation, equipment operation, and a Food Handler's Certificate; a $1,000 hiring bonus is offered with staged payments after 3 and 6 months of service.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-quantity food production and recipe development.
• Operate, breakdown and clean food service equipment used in large quantity production.
• Must be physically able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Must obtain a Food Handler's Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, sauces, and gravies for menus.
• Plan and schedule cooking procedures to have many items ready at once.
• Present food in an appealing way following recipes.
• Coordinate work of lower graded employees engaged in standard cooking tasks.
• Maintain inventories and rotate stock; follow sanitation procedures.
