The position requires ability to lift up to 40 pounds, follow recipes, and obtain a Food Handler's certificate. Previous cooking experience is encouraged, with benefits included under the Coast Guard Community Services Command.

Qualifications

• Experience in methods and procedures relating to food preparation, presentation, reading and following recipes.
• Experience following oral and written instructions and performing simple arithmetic.
• Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and stand long periods.
• Must obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
• Preferred: One year or more of cook experience in grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks a variety of menu items such as hamburgers, grilled sandwiches, eggs, quick meals, salads and desserts.
• Operates kitchen equipment and maintains proper food temperatures for safety and quality.
• Maintains a neat, clean, and safe work area and proper storage of items.
• May assist with bar duties such as filling ice bins and stocking beer coolers.
• Performs other duties as assigned or listed.
