Luzerne County Head Start is seeking a dedicated food service preparer for a full-time, school-year role (August–June) with summers off. You will prepare nutritious meals for children and staff per Head Start guidelines, while ensuring safe food storage and cleanliness in a supportive classroom environment.
Requirements include a High School diploma or GED and at least two years of institutional food service experience. A $500 sign-on bonus is offered along with comprehensive fringe benefits.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Two Years’ Experience in Food Service Preparation in an institutional setting
Prepare nutritious and attractive meals for children and staff according to a pre-arranged menu which meets the nutritional needs of each child as specified by the Child and Adult Care Food Program and Head Start.
Participate in nutrition education activities with the teaching staff and maintain appropriate standards of cleanliness, proper food storage and preparation as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards.
Luzerne County Head Start requires staff to possess current, valid Background Clearances (3) per state/federal regulations. Proof of education is required to meet the qualifications for the position.
Full Time, school year positions- 37.5 hrs/wk
Working a school schedule August-June annually, with an established summer break between school years
Rate of Pay: $15.73/hr.
