Job summary

Luzerne County Head Start is seeking qualified early childhood educators to deliver developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with the curriculum philosophy. The role involves planning, implementing activities, and managing classrooms to promote school readiness. Candidates should hold an AA or BS in ECE; PA Certification PK-4 is preferred for PreK Counts classrooms.

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Staff must meet background clearance requirements, with summer break between school years

Job description

• BS Degree in Early Childhood Education with PA Certification in PK-4 Instructional I Preferred (Required for PreK Counts classroom assignments)
• Bilingual Language abilities, English/Spanish, a plus

Responsibilities/Duties:

In accordance with curriculum philosophy, developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on children’s abilities and interests. .Plan and implement educational activities to include managing the classroom and planning activities according to the curriculum that are developmentally appropriate. Evaluate and record children’s progress and communicate with parents on a regular basis. Provide and maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices.

Luzerne County Head Start requires staff possess current, valid Background Clearances (3) per state/federal regulations. Proof of Degree/Certification and Experience Required to meet the Qualifications for position.

Working a school schedule August-June annually, with an established summer break between school years.

Pay Rates based on education/credentials:

• AA Degree in ECE – $22.66/hr
• BS Degree in ECE – $26.97/hr
• BS in ECE + PA Cert/Instructional I Certification – $28.16/hr

Bilingual Abilities Preferred (Eng/Spanish) – 5% additional pay
