Luzerne County Head Start in Wilkes-Barre, PA is seeking a classroom assistant for the school year on an as-needed basis to support Head Start activities for 3- and 4-year-olds.

You will work with the education staff, help carry out educational activities, promote school readiness, and ensure a safe, inclusive classroom. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; background clearances and education proof are required.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Work as a part of a team to assist in carrying out educational activities in the Head Start classroom setting.

Partner with the education staff as a support in the classroom on an "as needed" basis. This position can be a replacement staff for an absence in the classroom.

Staff provide and maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices for 3 and 4-year old children.

Luzerne County Head Start requires staff to possess current, valid Background Clearances (3) per state/federal regulations. Proof of education required to meet the qualifications for position.

School year position, working in an “as needed” basis for staff substitutions or additional classroom support.
This position works during the school schedule August-June while Head Start classes are in session.

Rate of Pay: $14.65/hr
