Brio Living Services is hiring a Cook for the Sparta, MI location. The role prepares and serves nutritious meals following menus and dietary guidelines, ensuring food quality and safety in a collaborative kitchen.

The position is part-time (32 hours per week) with a 10:00am–6:30pm schedule, Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday and alternating weekends. A $500 sign-on bonus is offered and benefits apply after the initial period.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
• Accommodate dietary needs and preferences while ensuring quality and presentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen that meets all food safety standards.
• Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, mixers, and slicers.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and portion control procedures.
• Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and minimizing food waste.
• Work with Dining Services team to ensure timely meal prep and service.
• Support special events and culinary initiatives as needed.
• Maintain required certifications and comply with regulations.
• Participate in training and team meetings.

What You’ll Do

The Cook prepares and serves high-quality, nutritious meals in a safe and efficient manner while following menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines. This role helps create a positive dining experience for residents by maintaining food quality, cleanliness, and compliance with all food safety standards. The Cook works collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure a well-organized kitchen and excellent service each day.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
• Accommodate special dietary needs and preferences while ensuring excellent food quality and presentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment that meets all food safety standards.
• Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, mixers, and slicers.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and portion control procedures.
• Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and minimizing food waste.
• Work collaboratively with Dining Services team members to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
• Help create a positive dining experience for residents, guests, and staff.
• Support special events, holiday meals, and other culinary initiatives as needed.
• Maintain required certifications and comply with all federal, state, local, and organizational regulations.
• Participate in training, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the Dining Services department.

Required

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Preferred

• Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, senior living, hospitality, or food service setting.
• Culinary education or formal culinary training.
• ServSafe Certification.
• Allergen Certification.
• Experience preparing meals for special diets, including low-sodium, diabetic, and texture-modified diets.
• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
