Seton Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Orwigsburg, PA is seeking a Cook to join our dietary team. This full-time/part-time role supports long-term and short-term resident meals, with a focus on quality, appearance, and therapeutic diets.

The successful candidate will have prior line-cook experience, ideally in a healthcare setting, and demonstrated customer service skills. Ability to manage time and multi-task in a busy dietary department is essential.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to preparation of food and plan accordingly
• Prepare meals following menus and authorize substitutions as needed
• Serve meals that are palatable and visually appealing
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets per planned menu
• Serve food according to portion control procedures
• Inspect diet trays to ensure correct diet is served
• Assist in establishing service production lines to ensure timely meals
• Take responsibility for tray line and assist on tray line as needed
• Explain department policies and procedures to residents and staff
• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary

The most successful candidate for this position

• Has prior line-cook experience
• Previously worked in a healthcare setting (preferred, but we will train the right people!)
• Employs great customer service skills and is always willing to go the extra mile
• Possesses good time management and the ability to multi-task

The responsibilities & duties:

• Review menus prior to preparation of food
• Prepare meals following planned menus and make only authorized food substitutes
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menu
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
• Inspect special diet trays to assure that correct diet is served to residents
• Assist in establishing service production lines to assure that meals are prepared on time
• Assumes responsibility for tray line and serves on tray line as necessary
• Interpret department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, family members, etc., as needed and appropriate
• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary
