Job summary

Newport Meadows & Rehabilitation Center in Christiana, PA is seeking an Assistant Cook to provide nutritious, quality meals for residents. The role supports meal preparation, adherence to menus, and dietary requirements in a patient-centered setting.

The position offers both part-time and full-time options with 1st and 2nd shifts available and every other weekend required. Prior line-cook experience preferred, with healthcare training available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to food preparation.
• Prepare meals according to planned menus and authorize substitutes.
• Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets per planned menu.
• Serve food following established portion-control procedures.
• Inspect diet trays to ensure correct diet is served to residents.
• Help establish service production lines to ensure timely meal prep.
• Assist on tray line as needed.
• Interpret department policies to residents, visitors, and staff.
• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary.

Job Type: Part Time/Full Time

Schedule: 1st & 2nd Shifts available

every other weekend required

The most successful candidate for this position:

• Has prior line-cook experience

• Previously worked in a healthcare setting (preferred, but we will train the right people!)

The responsibilities & duties:

• Review menus prior to preparation of food

• Prepare meals following planned menus and make only authorized food substitutes

• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance

• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menu

• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures

• Inspect special diet trays to assure that correct diet is served to residents

• Assist in establishing service production lines to assure that meals are prepared on time

• Assumes responsibility for tray line and serves on tray line as necessary

• Interpret department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, family members, etc., as needed and appropriate

• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary
