Job summary

Orwigsburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Orwigsburg, PA is seeking an experienced Cook to join our dietary team. The role offers both Part Time and Full Time shifts with 1st and 2nd shifts and every other weekend.

Responsibilities include menu review, meal preparation, and ensuring therapeutic diets are correctly served. The ideal candidate has prior line-cook experience, enjoys patient-focused service, and demonstrates good time management and multitasking abilities.

Qualifications

• Has prior line-cook experience.
• Previously worked in a healthcare setting (preferred, but we will train the right people!).
• Employs great customer service skills and is always willing to go the extra mile.
• Possesses good time management and the ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to preparation of food.
• Prepare meals following planned menus and make only authorized food substitutes.
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menu.
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Inspect special diet trays to assure that correct diet is served to residents.
• Assist in establishing service production lines to assure that meals are prepared on time.
• Assumes responsibility for tray line and serves on tray line as necessary.
• Interpret department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, family members, etc., as needed and appropriate.
• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary.
