Job summary

Orwigsburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Orwigsburg, PA is seeking an experienced cook to join our dietary team on a part-time or full-time basis. Schedule includes 1st and 2nd shifts with every-other-weekend requirement.

The ideal candidate has prior line-cook experience, preferably in a healthcare setting. We value customer service, time management, and the ability to multitask while preparing meals for residents on therapeutic diets.

Qualifications

• Prior line-cook experience in a kitchen setting.
• Healthcare experience is preferred, but on-the-job training is available.

Responsibilities

• Review menus before preparing food.
• Prepare meals following planned menus and authorize substitutions.
• Plate meals that look appetizing and are palatable.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets per menu.
• Serve food according to portion control procedures.
• Inspect diet trays to ensure correct meals are served to residents.
• Help establish production lines to ensure timely meals.
• Assist with tray-line duties as needed.
• Explain department policies to residents, visitors, and staff as required.
• Coordinate dietary service with other departments.

Job Type: Part Time/Full Time

Schedule: 1st & 2nd Shifts available

every other weekend required

• Has prior line-cook experience


• Previously worked in a healthcare setting (preferred, but we will train the right people!)

The responsibilities & duties:

• Review menus prior to preparation of food


• Prepare meals following planned menus and make only authorized food substitutes


• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance


• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menu


• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures


• Inspect special diet trays to assure that correct diet is served to residents


• Assist in establishing service production lines to assure that meals are prepared on time


• Assumes responsibility for tray line and serves on tray line as necessary


• Interpret department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, family members, etc., as needed and appropriate


• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary
