Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks all items needed for patient tray line, cafeteria, and catering events.
• Prepares meals of good quality: seasoned properly, proper doneness, temperature, consistency, on time, and attractively presented.
• Accurately prepares meals using proper techniques; confers with dietary personnel as necessary.
• Follows appropriate recipes as provided.
• Properly wraps, dates, and stores food.
• Uses proper body mechanics when handling food and kitchen equipment.
• Uses a thermometer correctly for cooking and storing foods.
• Follows modified diets for special patient care.
• Responsible for cooking according to diet office tallies and forecasts.
• Keeps work area neat, clean, and organized.
• Ensures rotation of foods in cook's boxes.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Minimum of two years recent experience as a cook or assistant cook.
• Fire Safety card required within 90 days of hire.

This position is covered by SEIU-UHW and subject to the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement.

Pay Range

$23.22 - $29.20 per hour
