Job Description - Cook 1 - Banquets - Conrad Los Angeles (HOT0BM4H)

Be a part of the newest luxury hotel in downtown LA, Conrad Los Angeles! As part of the billion-dollar project, The Grand LA, this is the 7th Conrad Hotel in the U.S. and the 1st in California.

Located in Downtown LA’s cultural corridor, Conrad Los Angeles is the city’s newest luxury destination, featuring over 300 rooms, a world-class spa, a 16,000-square-foot rooftop pool deck, 12,000 square feet of event space, and three dynamic dining experiences—including our signature restaurant, San Laurel, all in partnership with Chef Jose Andres' award-winning restaurant group, JoseAndresFoodGroup.

In this role as a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing food items in accordance with recipes and established standards to deliver outstanding service.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of cooking experience in a hotel/restaurant environment. Good working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards and operating all kitchen equipment (stoves, ovens, broilers, steamers, kettles, etc.) following proper manuals or chefs’ instructions. Basic mathematical skills are necessary to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts, and portion sizes. Ability to read, write, and speak English to complete requisitions, read recipes, and communicate with team members. Manual dexterity to use kitchen tools like knives, spoons, spatulas, tongs, etc. Ability to work in confined spaces, perform duties within extreme temperature ranges, and lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to work a full shift (8 hours), standing and walking, with a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing all food items according to standard recipes or guest checks to ensure consistency.
  • Inspecting and selecting food items, ensuring proper storage, and maintaining quality.
  • Keeping refrigeration, storage, and work areas clean and compliant with health regulations.
  • Preparing daily requisitions for supplies and ingredients.
  • Following recipes and employing math skills for measurements.
