Job summary

Woodland Springs, part of Lifepoint Health, is opening a brand-new hospital and seeks a skilled Cook to join the Nutritional Services team. You will prepare meals per recipes, coordinate with the Dietitian on special diets, and supervise kitchen staff to maintain quality and compliance.

The role emphasizes timely meal service, food safety, and collaborative care, with opportunities for professional growth in a brand-new facility that values patient-centered nutrition and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior food service or customer service experience with cooking experience preferred.
• Prior healthcare experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Ensures meals are ready at the specified times and tests foods being cooked to ensure proper seasoning etc.
• Consults with the Registered Dietitian on modified diets, as necessary.
• Supervises Nutritional Services workers when washing, trimming or preparing food.
• Measures and mixes ingredients according to approved recipes, using blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, etc.
• Makes sauces, soups, stews, casseroles and desserts meeting established dietary guidelines.
• Cooks meat, fish and poultry in a variety of ways such as baking, roasting, broiling and steaming.
• Maintains kitchen in a clean, neat and organized manner and adheres to all infection control policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Woodland Springs is a 96 bed behavioral health facility. We offer high-quality, compassionate care for a wide variety of patients in need. Our teams provide evidence-based, transformational care for a broad range of mental health concerns in a compassionate, comfortable environment.

How you'll contribute

A Cook who excels in this role:
