Job summary

Woodland Estates Senior Living in Denver, CO is seeking a Cook to join our caregiving team and prepare nutritious meals for residents in a safe, clean kitchen. You will follow menus, support dietary needs, and help maintain quality and compliance in food service.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years experience as a Cook.
• Must be able to write, speak, and read in English.
• Cook/Dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other medical setting preferred but not required.
• Experience cooking a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Food Handlers or Serv Safe certification.
• Experience with food preparation and nutrition.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe culinary environment in the facility following infection-control procedures.
• Keep kitchen and equipment clean and organized; ensure safe food temperatures at all times.
• Wash dishes and store properly after meals.
• Follow the provided menu to prepare nutritionally sound meals, considering residents' needs and preferences.
• Assist in Health Department inspections if they occur on shift.
• Prepare nourishing meals and snacks using mostly non-processed foods.
• Report shortages of snacks or ingredients to the Culinary Lead.
• Report broken or malfunctioning equipment to the Culinary Lead immediately.
• May take extra shifts or help with special occasions; early mornings or evenings may be required.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe culinary environment in the facility using strict infection control procedures.
• Kitchen and equipment will be clean and organized at all times. Safe food temperatures will be maintained at all times according to regulations.
• Dishes will be cleaned and properly stored after every meal.
• Follow the provided food menu for nutritionally sound meals, with the needs and preferences of the residents kept in mind.
• Contact the Lead or Resident Services Manager to assist in Health Department inspections if they occur on your shift.
• Prepare and offer nourishing meals and snacks using as many non-processed foods as possible.
• Report shortages or needs of snacks or meal ingredients to the Culinary Lead.
• Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to Culinary Lead immediately.
• May be asked to take extra shifts or help with special occasions.
• This may include early morning or evening hours.
