Job summary

Rio Las Vegas is seeking a Convention Operations leader to oversee daily functions for the convention area and support events across the property. You will develop daily operational plans for the Convention Operations team and coordinate with meetings, conventions, and Food & Beverage events.

You will lead Banquet Porters, coordinate with AV and exhibit partners, and ensure equipment and spaces meet established standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of convention operations experience.
• Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational direction to Banquet Porters and Lead Porters and assist in coaching.
• Maintain convention space, ballrooms, and storage areas to established standards.
• Secure, store, and manage convention operations equipment (chairs, tables, podiums, easels, stage risers).
• Attend EO and Pre-Convention meetings and develop operational plans for Housemen (room sets, strikes, maintenance).
• Coordinate with exhibit and AV teams to support load-in/load-out operations.
• Collaborate with AV partners on general session room setups.
• Monitor maintenance needs and submit work orders as needed.
• Coordinate with Banquets, Culinary, and other departments to support event execution.
• Ensure equipment availability in-house or rented and manage setup/breakdown of functions.
