Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Controls Project Engineer for its Customer Service Modernizations & Upgrades group. You will design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems, interfacing with customers on site and traveling up to 40% of the time.

You should have hands-on PLC experience, familiarity with major PLC platforms, and AutoCAD Electrical skills. A 4-year degree or equivalent is required; 0–8 years of related experience will be considered.

Qualifications

• Current hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers.
• Expertise with Allen Bradley, Schneider Unity, or Siemens TIA Portal preferred.
• Must demonstrate a working understanding of design, layout and use of current networks such as Profibus, ASi, and Ethernet.
• Experience in writing descriptions of operations and developments of controls based physical layouts is expected.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical preferred.
• Travel can range anywhere from 25% - 40% depending on the project and is typically on weekends and possibly over some holidays.
• 4 year degree or equal in a related discipline
• 0-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of responsibilities as presented above.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the design of semi-complex systems that integrate hardware and software.
• Write PLC code for semi-complex systems utilizing standard practices.
• Provides support in semi-complex material specification, schematic preparation, bill-of-materials development, and appropriate follow-up.
• Participates in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.
• Independently run semi-complex projects through the project life cycle, including all design, documentation, and forecasting.
• Assist in complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.
• Troubleshoot programming and electrical issues that arise on site.
• Interact directly with the customer on site.
